Privacy Policy

Last Seen is made by Bazun ("we," "us"). We built this game to respect you. We don't run ads, we don't use advertising identifiers, we don't track you across other apps, and we never sell your information. This page explains exactly what that means.

1. The short version

  • No account. You can play without giving us your name, email, or any login.
  • We use anonymous usage analytics to see how the game is played — tied to a random ID, never to your identity.
  • No advertising ID (IDFA), no App Tracking Transparency prompts, no cross-app tracking, no data brokers.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your card or payment details.
  • Your game progress can sync through your own iCloud — that stays between you and Apple.

2. Information we collect

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand what's fun, what's confusing, and where players get stuck, the app records anonymous gameplay events — for example, "a case was opened," "a question was answered," or "the paywall was viewed." These events are associated with a randomly generated install identifier (a UUID created on your device), not with you. Alongside events we may receive standard technical context: device model, operating-system version, app version, and an approximate country derived from your IP address at the moment of sending. We do not store your IP address. Analytics are processed by PostHog (see §5).

If we have not enabled an analytics key for a given build, no analytics leave your device at all.

Purchases

When you buy a case or a subscription, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only what Apple gives us: confirmation that a purchase or subscription is active (your "entitlement"). We never receive or store your name, card number, or billing address.

Game progress (iCloud)

Your solved cases and settings are saved on your device and, if you're signed in to iCloud, mirrored to your private iCloud account so they follow you between devices. This uses Apple's iCloud key-value storage. It is tied to your Apple ID, controlled by you, and not readable by us.

If you contact us

When you use the support form or email us, we receive the name, email address, and message you choose to send, so we can reply and help. We use this only for support.

3. What we don't collect

  • No advertising identifier (IDFA) and no App Tracking Transparency tracking.
  • No real name, phone number, or account — there is no sign-up.
  • No access to your contacts, real photos, microphone, or precise location.
  • No cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no data sold or shared with data brokers.

4. How we use information

  • To run the game and remember your progress.
  • To fix bugs, improve difficulty and pacing, and decide what to build next (anonymous analytics).
  • To deliver and restore purchases (via Apple).
  • To answer your support messages.

We do not use your information for advertising or profiling, and we do not make automated decisions that affect you.

5. Who we share information with

We rely on a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Apple — App Store distribution, in-app purchases, and iCloud sync. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • PostHog — product analytics for the anonymous events described above. Hosted in the United States.
  • Cloudflare — hosting for this website (lastseen.bazun.me) and standard server logs for security.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws.

6. How long we keep it

Anonymous analytics are retained only as long as they're useful for product decisions and then aged out. Support emails are kept as long as needed to resolve your request and for a reasonable period afterward. Purchase entitlements are maintained by Apple for as long as they're valid. Deleting the app removes local data from your device; you can also remove its iCloud data from your device's iCloud settings.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information, and to object to certain processing. Because our analytics are anonymous and not linked to your identity, we usually cannot connect them to a specific person — but for anything you've sent us directly (like a support email), just contact us and we'll help. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

8. Children

Last Seen is rated 17+ and is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. Security & international transfers

We use reputable providers and industry-standard safeguards (including encryption in transit) to protect information. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the little data involved safe. Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries; where required, appropriate transfer safeguards apply.
